Legal issues surrounding our bodies are both timely and timeless. Because our understanding of the body is constantly evolving, law must continue to redefine how our bodies interact with the world around us. Accordingly, the University of Chicago Legal Forum will convene scholars to discuss how the law directly regulates and responds to the human body—exploring topics such as disability law; autonomy; medicine; gender, sexuality, reproduction; race; the criminal legal system; and exploitation of the body. Where current law governing the body is deficient, we plan to offer remedies.
